Hafizh riding high in Aragon
MALAYSIA
rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah finished 7th in the Moto2 class for Round
3 of the CEV Buckler (Spanish Championship) held at the Motorland
Aragon on May 27.
After a difficult qualifying session, the
18-year-old PETRONAS Raceline Malaysia rider was faced with the
difficult task of starting the race from 13th on the grid. A rocket
start by the gutsy young Malaysian shot Hafizh to eighth position at
Turn 1. However, the pace was hot and Hafizh was relegated to ninth
after only one lap.
Hafizh fought his way back to sixth position mid-way
through the 15 lap race but the aggressive riding had taken its toll
and the bike was losing grip on the front tyre. Due to the lack of
traction, Hafizh's laptimes were dropping and despite Hafizh's best
efforts, lost another spot towards the end of the race.
Hafizh eventually finished the 76.2km race in 7th place with a total time of 29:34.722.
"It
was a tough race as the circuit is highly technical. The turns are
wide, making it difficult to identify the best or ideal racing line. I
improved almost a full second faster in today's race but I guess it was
not good enough to keep pace with the front runners," he said.
The next round of the CEV Buckler will be held at the Catalunya circuit on June 24, 2012.
go..go..go..hafizh..keep it up!!!
