DATUK Lee Chong Wei who dominated the Super Series circuit captured the All England Badminton Championship on Sunday.
The world No. 1 won 21-19, 21-19 over 20-year old Kenichi Tago, the first Japanese male player to step into the final for nearly half a century.
Chong Wei's experience just got him through tight finishes in both games, He became the first player to win three Super Series titles in a row having captured the titles in Seoul and Kuala Lumpur in January.
A minute after his victory, Chong Wei received a phone call of congratulations from the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“I'm relief to win and a big dream especially as it’s the 100th anniversary of the All England,” he said.
Chong Wei's success may not convince everyone that he is now the best player in the world, because Lin Dan of China who won both the Olympic and World titles, skipped the first two Super Series of the year and mysteriously lost to Bao Chunlai in Birmingham.
"Really a great feeling nad of course this is for all Malaysian," he ponted.
Following Chong Wei's victory, I still have something to ask Malaysian badminton Association (BAM).
Who's next after Chong Wei...I see no one yet stamped their mark at international scene..... wake up BAM...
